Give Up Stress For Lent

Writer: Azaria AndersonAzaria Anderson

Hey pumpkins,

Lent is one of my favorite season's on the Church's calendar. I mean, aside from the fact that you grow closer to God through your sacrifices while you await His ultimate sacrifice on the cross you get to lose weight AND fit in all those cute outfits.

That was me last year.

This year however, the first part still hold true but the cute outfits? Not so much. As we mature we start getting a better understanding and a deeper appreciation of Lent. Now, I look at it as a time to practice EXTREME faith. The bible tells us in Psalm 55:22 to "Cast all your burdens on the Lord and He will sustain you". We also sing that really cool song in church you know:

I'm gonna lay down my biurdens down by the river side (DOWN BYYYYYY)

Down be the River side (DOWN BYYY) x3

I'm gonna lay down my biurdens down by the river side (DOWN BYYYYYY)

Down be the River side (DOWN BYYY) x2

I ain't gonna study war no more

I ain't gonna study was no more (x2)

I ain't gonna study war no moreeeeeeeeee

I ain't gonna study was no more (x2)

I ain't gonna study, war no more.

Ah! the beautiful sound of music. I love that song.

So we have all of three things pointing to a singular thing. Don't worry about it. You see, I had a tendency to worry about the simplest things and fret about the huge things until I discovered the Joy of giving everything to God to handle.

I'm not saying you shouldn't care at all, I'm just saying you shouldn't care so much that you begin to malfunction over a minuscule problems like an exam (watch me drape up CAPE ya now.) You're probably thinking,

' Azaria is there something wrong with you? You';re telling me to not worry about one of the biggest deciding factors in my life? Have you gone insane.' Yes, I mean no! I haven't gone insane and yes I'm telling you not to worry about it.

When I read the bible I never saw cast some of your burdens on the Lord. I didn't see cast half of your burdens on the Lord. I did not see cast a FRACTION of your burden on the Lord I saw cats ALL your burden on the Lord.

The psalmist never told me to trust in the Lord with the part of my heart that isn't occupied. Or trust in him with a reasonable amount. No honey, he said trust in the Lord with ALL of your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but with ALL your ways acknowledge Him.

Lemme say that again for the people in the back.

In ALLLLL your ways acknowledge Him and He SHALL DIRECTS YOUR PATH. Not he will probably direct your path. Not sometimes He will direct your path. It says He SHALL direct thy path (Can i get an Amen?)

So the point I'm making is this. Lent is not only about giving up things you like, love or are addicted to. It's more than that. God is trying to get you to get closer to Him in this season. He wants you to taste the sweetness of salvation and experience what it is like to live in gory.

How are you going to do that if you're stressed about the things of the world?

Honey you need to give them up. Give them up to Him and watch him sort them out.

Now, I know somebody out there saying " But! God helps those who helps themselves."

Says which Bible? Not the Christian one. That phrase is taken from Hezekiah 6:1. That is a Phantom scripture. I'm going to give you a minute to search your bible for it

Found it?

I bet not.

You see, our God knows we are not capable of anything without Him, so what help are we supposed to be helping ourselves? We are completely dependent on him for every and anything so stop stressing and start trusting.

Thank you for reading, please don't forget to like and comment and subscribe if you haven't already. Much more coming soon. I can't wait!
