Have you ever seen an advertisement on the television? Like those gorgeous shoes, for instance? You see that beautiful girl walking down that immaculate street, that’s perfectly even, with a hot date by her side. Then the camera slowly zooms in on her stilettos, and you watch her step so graciously and effortlessly down the street. So you get the bright idea to go and purchase a pair of those shoes, because if she can do it; so can you. Sadly, after buying those shoes you realize it was all a lie. There is no immaculately, even street. There is no hot date. There is no such thing as graciously and effortlessly walking. What there are though, are streets with a lot of small bumps that are trying to make you break your neck, a hundred hot guys wondering “Why is she trying to kill herself in those heels?” and worst of all: the ache, those burning toes begging for a reprieve. There’s also you, cautiously dragging yourself to the nearest bench so that you can sit and just experience a minute of freedom. Don’t worry hun, I’ve all been there too. The good news is that from being there, I’ve discovered a few things that make walking in heels not only feel much better, but also look much better, and I’ll gladly share them with you. Fitting

The most common mistake people make when choosing heels is buying the wrong size. Believe it or not, buying your heels a size too big does not help. It hurts. This happen especially if the heels are closed-toe heels. Then, when you walk, they look more like flip flops than anything. The same can be said about buying your heels half a size too small. Seeing ladies with their toes hanging over the edge of their heels a nuh one good look at all. Please, ensure that when you go to buy your shoes, you walk around the store in it. Don’t just walk to the mirror and pose. Take a short stroll around the entire store, and make sure your shoes are comfortable; you won’t regret it I promise. Heal-Toe

When wearing heels, walking as though you have on flats or sneakers is a big ‘No’, that’s a big ‘N’ and a little ‘o’. Walk from heel to toe; meaning every time you step place your feet down heel first. Not only does it make that extremely calming soft “Click Click” noise, nut it also looks and feels much better.
Straight line

Granted some of you, like myself, just cannot walk in a straight line for anything. Which is why most of us dread getting pulled over for a supposed DUI, because even if we’re not, it’s hard to convince anyone, walking the way we walk. This is where practice comes in. Envision a straight line when walking and actually try to follow it. It makes your walking much easier and your steps ten times lighter.
Short Strides

I don’t even like to think about the many times I’ve been late for something, or really needed to get somewhere and tried rushing in heels. What I’ve discovered is that there is a reason there is no ‘R U S H’ in ‘H E E L’. They just simply do not go well together. Not only is it very uncomfortable it also looks as if it is very uncomfortable. Take your time. Take shorter strides instead of long ones. Pace yourself. It makes your life much easier.
Lean Back

Walking in heels and leaning forward hurts...a lot. That’s because you’re putting a lot of pressure on your toes. When you lean back slightly, you evenly distribute the pressure between your heels, soles and toes. Leaning back also helps to grant a little relief. I’m not saying you should lean all the way back and walk as if we’re doing London Bridge. We’re not. Lean back slightly, so only you will now your leaning back. It also makes walking look very gracious. Bend your Knees

Personally, I find that when I bend my knees slightly it helps with my stride; it also helps me with keeping my shoes on my feet when they sweat sometimes. Try that trick. When you’re walking bend your knees about one degree more than you usually would. It works wonders.
Band-aid

The band-aid is my dearest friend. Not only because it is inexpensive, which it really is; but also because it is extremely useful. Your toes are rubbing too much? Slap on a band aid. The shoe rubbing against the back of your heel? Slap on a band-aid. Your toes sliding down in the shoe because of sweaty feet? Slap on a Band-Aid. The only problem with that is, please try to hide said Band-Aid so it doesn’t show too much.
