24 Hours: How To Make the Most Of It

Writer: Azaria AndersonAzaria Anderson

Hello Pumpkins!

2018, is the year when you become a boss. It is the year you achieve your goals. It is the year you face your challenges head on, instead of running from them (I need to take my own advice). I have such a good feeling about 2018. I feel like we are called to unlock our potential, to aim high and actually achieve. As you know, there is a big difference between aiming high and achieving high standards, you can aim high but that doesn't mean you have to achieve anything. What I'm saying is this is not only the year you aim. It's the year you achieve.

Now how does one achieve. They do as much as the can in the twenty-four hours they have. Here are some tips I've been employing to help me make the most of my day.

1) Start Your Day Earlier

I wake up at four. Even though it only takes me half an hour to get ready, and I'm not leaving the house until six. I promise, I'm not just being wicked to myself. Here's the method behind the madness.

If I wake up at four, I have time to offer an acceptable devotion to God (still working on it), exercise and prepare and have a healthy breakfast. I find that when I do these things, I feel much more confident and content starting the day. I don't feel like I have been rushed and I don't leave the house with that eerie feeling that I'm forgetting something.

When I compare this to last year when I woke up at 5 or 5:30 and rushed through everything, not excising, not eating and just offering hasty prayer before I leave, I can say I get a lot more done this way.

It's simple really. The earlier you start your day, the more you get done. So start your day early.

2) Manage Your Time Wisely

I promise I'll do a time management post soon.

The way in which you manage your time makes a world of difference. Let's do some math.

24 hours = 1 day

5 hours spent on social media

8 hours sleeping

5+8=13

24-13=11

So after wasting those five hours ,you have eleven hours left in the day. Minus the time you spend at school or working. How much time do you have to work on yourself and on your goal? Not much I bet. If you cut down some social media time however, you will be surprised how much more you can get done.

3) Get those hours

I cannot even begin to tell you how important it is for you to get your sic to eight hours of sleep. Sleep is necessary for you to function properly. If you can't function properly, you can't achieve your goals. I make sure to go to sleep at eight, so that when I wake up at four, I would have gotten my eight hours and be well rested and ready for the day. You need to have between six to eight hours of sleep in order for your body to function properly, eight being the most ideal.

Of course, on the flip side, you don't want to over sleep because that's not good for you either. So try and keep your sleep time reasonable and between those six to eight hours.

4)Master the Art of Self Control

I think for a young person I have incredible self control. It's how I stay vegetarian, when every one else in my family eats meat. It's how I get my five bottles of water down every day, but most importantly it is how I achieve my goals. In order to maintain those three steps listed above, you need to be able to control yourself.

If you are attempting to have a productive day, but you can't convince yourself to get out of bed early, exercise and start your work; how productive will your day be? Master control over yourself and trust me, you will see major improvement in how your day is spent.

5) Know Your Limits

A lot of people set a ridiculously large amount of tasks to be completed in one day. Know your limits. Know how much you can and can't achieve. Know when to stop and rest. Listen to your body. If you wake up saying that today you're going to meet Beyoncé , have a photo shoot, get a million followers on Instagram and spend time at the spa; you have just set the most ridiculous bucket list of 2018.

It is highly impossible for you to do everything you want to do throughout your day, but it is not impossible for you to do what you can. So set realistic objectives, and work towards achieving them. Know when you've taken too much onto your plate, know when it's time to step back, and know when to postpone certain tasks.
